Reward-net - Teachers

The REWARD course is very popular all over the world. Many language schools use it as a core course book, not only because of its quality but also because it is a complete and extensive series with substantial supplementary material provided by Macmillan Heinemann ELT.

The EuroPlus+ Reward provides new teaching opportunities for teachers and language schools. The electronic version of REWARD is the first available application that establishes an electronic link between users and their teacher. Intelligent use of Internet possibilities makes this program a new tool for all those who want to teach English while using available technology to give distance learning benefits.

All payments and financial conditions can be arranged between teachers or language schools and their students without any input from the software and content providers.

Main concept

The REWARD computer program does not exclude any type of activity which is traditionally done in a language classroom or with the teacher’s assistance. Such activities have been made possible within the program with the inclusion of distance learning features.

The inclusion of writing activities is a new feature in computer assisted learning. No computer program can be designed to check even a short text written freely by students. This application allows writing activities to be sent to real teachers or language schools for revision and comment using the Internet network. All discussions that usually take place in a classroom were until now, absent in multimedia applications. Basically, there was no way to practise speaking using a computer. REWARD gives students the chance to meet virtually on the net without leaving their homes and talk in chat rooms via voice or text in real time. The presence of a real teacher, who will be one of the discussions participants is obviously recommended. The application allows teachers to join and control meetings and discussions. Solution for teachers

Teachers only need an e-mail address to begin to use REWARD as part of their teaching method. Students also require an e-mail address and can send all non-objective activities to their teacher’s e-mail address.

Teachers can download free tool software from the REWARD website. The teacher’s software enables them to correct and comment on the material sent by a student. Corrected material is sent back as an attached file via e-mail. This file is acquired by the student’s main application and all corrections and comments are displayed near the activity.

It is also very easy for a teacher to make an appointment on the Forum Service with their students to discuss the subject proposed in the course. Voice and text mode is available. Password features prevent other people from joining the teacher-to-student discussion.

Solutions for language schools

A language school might arrange communication between their students in the same way as described for teachers in the section above. A school might also set up its own Internet server with dedicated software of Reward provided by YDP Multimedia. This makes the services like Forum, Game and Teacher available only for students of the school.

When a school offers their students services based on their own server, it is possible to create many new opportunities for both the students and the school. The following services are available exclusively to a school’s own students:
